A huge thank you to our OAPCE Director Renata Quattro for her efforts surrounding the Letters to the Troops Project
It was a gesture that began a few years ago when Renata’s brother in law was deployed overseas. She had spoken with her principal at a school council meeting requesting whether it would be acceptable to send Christmas Cards to the troops. At that same meeting,the trustee was there, liked the idea and brought it up at a trustees meeting Shortly after, Renata received a phone call from Mr. Les Storey, the principal of diversity at the DPCDSB, requesting her to facilitate the offering of this beautiful initiative across the board. Since then, each year the principal of each of our schools receives an invitation from Les Storey to participate in Letters to the Troops, Renata then will receive a phone call to pick up the letters from the School Board office and having military connections she ensures the letters get to the military base in time for the troops to have the letters for Christmas.
